How do I maintain my tile floor?
Sweeping and vacuuming regularly. Using floor mats placed inside and outside of the exterior entry ways helps minimize tracked in dirt. Damp mopping or wiping with a PH balanced neutral cleaner and warm water. Thoroughly rinse and dry the surface after washing. You should not use a detergent because soap films can leave a dull appearance. Do not use scouring powders, vinegars, or cleaners with strong acidic or alkaline agents.
Do I need to seal my grout?
Sealing the grout will add a barrier that will give you time to clean up a spill. Sealing one time will not make your grout forever stain proof. Sealing is a great start to maintaining the original appearance, regular care and maintenance should follow. Areas that are susceptible to heavy spills like kitchen floors and backsplashes behind cooktops can be sealed once a year. Grout cleaners are available for stubborn stains.
What's the difference between ceramic and porcelain tile?
Porcelain tile is made from a finer grade of clay, it is fired at a higher temperature for a longer period of time, resulting in a harder, denser, less water absorbent tile. It can be used in a freeze/thaw conditions where as a ceramic tile is not recommended. Ceramic & Porcelain tile is tested for surface traction, resistance to cold, heat, chemical damage breaking strength, and stain resistance.
